Te Huihui-o-Matariki

Te Kotahi o Te Tauihu Trust is working alongside Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui Māori Cultural Council and Nelson City Council to host a series of Matariki events in Whakatū on the public holiday itself, Friday, July 14. There are three key events.
 
Taku Kara Tīpuna, the Regional Secondary School Kapa Haka Competition. The competitions will be held at the Trafalgar Centre, doors open at 9am and the whakataetae kicks off at 10am. Get your ticket at the door or online here.  
 
There will also be a market next door at Rutherford Park. Art, kai, taonga and crafts and more. And then from 5pm to 9pm there is a free concert featuring the Modern Māori Quartet, Maaka Fiso and Awhimai Fraser!
